About Us
The Pub2Pub Charity Fun Run and Walk is now in its 19th year and aims to raise much needed funds
for local and other needy charities. This significant community charity event is proudly organised by the Rotary Club of Brookvale
in conjunction with the Newport Arms Hotel.
The challenging race, founded in 1991 by Newport Arms, starts with a 500m sand start from
the Dee Why Surf Club and winds its way via the back streets along the beaches providing
the participants with some spectacular scenery along the way. The traditional end 13km later at local
pub icon, The Newport Arms Hotel, is always a winner when entrants are joined by
family and friends join the party atmosphere for your favourite refreshment and bite to eat
to celebrate another year's Pub2Pub completion.
This year's run aims to be bigger, better and more fun than ever before and hopes
to raise $150,000 for local charities including the local Surf clubs, local Hospitals,
SES and NSW Rural Fire Service and other charities.
"Since resuming in 2004, the race has grown from strength to strength with 2010
delivering a full capacity race record 4,000 entrants. In 2011, we will be
limiting entries to 5,000, but we encourage everyone to enter early to avoid disappointment
as the race was full 2 weeks prior to our close last year," commented race organiser
Phil Jackson, from Rotary Club of Brookvale.
"Our Teams Challenge was a huge success last year and we will again be
offering $3,000 charity cash for all companies, sports teams, charities or just
a group of friends. This year we also have a new Schools Challenge offering $3,000
in cash for the largest team entered by a school group. Additionally Bendigo
Bank's 'Best Dressed Award' encourages all to don the craziest and wackiest clothes to win $1,000
for their charity of choice."
